Аннотация доклада. This study is a part of a comparative research on leadership practices and cultures from the beginning of the 20th Century to 1940. On the one side, innovation in hierarchical frameworks was immensely intensified as well as the discourse on leadership in a collection of activity areas as economics, politics, military, education, religion and of social sciences as psychology and sociology. On the other side, the actual operational practices changed also greatly. I would like to present the role of the writing in Stalin’s work as the Great Lead (Vožd’) since 1928 up to 1938. It is first a study of a practice. This study intends to be pragmatic. What shaped the specificity of Stalin’s action and what was the part of (hand)writing in it? While on holidays on the Black Sea and writing to Moscow, he was trying to obtain an effect at a distance. What were his ways of doing? How was he attempting to perform himself as Stalin throughout the whole hierarchical system he built? What can be said about the specificity of political action vs, e. g., industrial? The work material of Stalin (letters, notes, even scribble) will be scrutinized: a way to connect the micro to the macro.
