Call for Papers : Law and Historical Events: A Mutual Shaping?

18+
*recommended age
Event ended
Friday, September 19, 2025 – ONLINE FORMAT

We invite historians, legal historians and legal scholars to submit papers that explore the complex interaction between historical events and law. Specifically, we seek to address the following questions: when and how did historical events influence the creation, interpretation, and application of law? Conversely, when and how did law shape or influence the course of historical events?

In a multidisciplinary framework, we encourage submissions that propose different approaches to measure the impact of law on historical events and how historical facts have shaped legal frameworks. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

- The dynamics between law and political power during critical historical moments.

- The influence of wars, revolutions, or economic crises on legislation.

- How law has shaped social movements, institutions, or cultural changes.

- The role of courts and judicial bodies in adapting law to changing historical contexts.

- Methodological approaches and metrics to assess the impact of law on historical events and /or vice versa.

Submission Guidelines:
