“Understanding Economic Growth and Development in Central and Eastern Europe”: Workshop in Economic History and Development

HSE Faculty of Economics in cooperation with School of History will hold on September 2–3, 2016 a workshop named “Understanding economic growth and development in Central and Eastern Europe”. The keynote lecturers of a workshop are Tracy K. Dennison (California Institute of Technology) and Leandro Prados de la Escosura(Carlos III University in Madrid). Proposals for papers accepted until March 31, 2016.

International Conference “What is Enlightenment? New Answers to the Old Question”

HSE School of History in cooperation with Institute of World History (Russian Academy of Sciences), Deutsches Historisches Institut Moskau, Centre d’études franco-russe de Moscou, Kuskovo Estate and Institut de Recherche sur la Renaissance, l’Âge Classique et les Lumières (IRCL – UMR 5186 du CNRS – Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier III) will hold on June 26–28, 2017 an international conference “What is Enlightenment? New Answers to the Old Question” (“L’Identité des Lumières: nouvelles approches”). The conference will be held at Kuskovo Museum-Estate (Moscow). Proposals are accepted until November 1, 2016.

Alexander Kamenskii, Head of the School of History took part in the conference ‘KOLL-MANIA. Celebrating the scholarship of Nancy Shields Kollmann’ that was held on October 8-10 in Stanford.  Alexander Kamenskii presented the report ‘A Story of Criminal Love in the 18th Century’ – a case study based on a lawsuit found in the archive of Moscow office on zemstvo affairs.
