The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna hosted the Archival Impulse Summer School, co-organised by JINR physicists, historians from the HSE Faculty of Humanities, and staff from the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ARAS). This first archival summer school continued the joint initiative of HSE University and JINR to examine and preserve the unique historical legacy of physicists.
In the latest issue of the magazine “Cahiers du monde russe” for 2023, Mikhail Belousov published a review of the book by IRII director Ekaterina Boltunova “The Last Polish King: the coronation of Nicholas I in Warsaw in 1829 and the memory of the Russian-Polish wars of the 17th – early 19th centuries ".
In the book "Rules of the game on a voluntary basis. Power and voluntary public organizations in the USSR in the 1960s–1990s." (ed. G.A. Yankovskaya; Perm, 2023) published an article by Ekaterina Boltunova and Galina Egorova “All-Union/All-Russian: an unrealized project for the creation of the Society for the Protection of Monuments of the USSR.”

The recently launched Master's Programme in Medieval Studies is the only Master’s degree in Russia fully dedicated to medieval studies. Isabelle Kaplan has recently joined the Centre for the History and Sociology of World War II and Its Consequences as a post-doctoral fellow. She will be working at HSE University for one year.
The International Centre for the History and Sociology of World War II and its Consequences at HSE University held a Graduate Student Seminar in Soviet History together with Sciences Po (France) on June 17 – 18, 2019. HSE News Service spoke with participants and instructors of the seminar, which examinedthe impact of WWII on the Soviet Union and surrounding regions, as well as aspects of the Soviet system from Stalin up to the 1980s.
On June 24-25, HSE University held the international academic conference, ‘The 1990s: A Social History of Russia’ organized by International Center for the History and Sociology of World World War II and its Consequences, the Boris Yeltsin Center, the Egor Gaider Foundation, and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. On October 3, the School of History and the HSE Centre for Digital Humanities, with support from the Teaching Excellence Initiative, held a lecture by Dr. Andrew Janco (Haverford College, USA) entitled ‘Engaging Students in the Humanities and Sciences through Digital Scholarship Projects.’ Covering methods for engaging students in project-based research in the digital humanities, the lecture aimed to demonstrate the benefits of researchers working with students as co-investigators with their own research interests and agenda.
